MRP MALLEUS REPLACEMENT PROSTHESIS
STABILITY FOR A LONG-LASTING OUTCOME
Postoperative movements of the tympanic membrane can have a
negative effect on the optimal position of a middle ear prosthe-
sis. Invasive disease and anteriorly positioned malleus add to the
degree of difficulty to reconstruction.
One of the aims of ossicular chain reconstruction is consequently
to create a stable reconstruction minimizing the risk of tilting of the
prosthesis.
SIMULATES AN ABSENT MANUBRIUM OF MALLEUS
The Malleus Replacement Prosthesis delivers an innovative con-
cept which may considerably improve reconstruction instability of
prostheses by creating an accessible lateral platform for implants
to couple to. The adjustable Y link can be optimally positioned to
the bony rim of the auditory canal.
WIDE RANGE OF APPLICATIONS
The MRP stabilizes and secures a partial or total reconstruction
and counteracts dislocation, especially during the initial healing
phase. It can be used in conjunction with a large number of KURZ
prostheses. Ideally it is suited to interface with the Malleus Notch
Prosthesis or the Cavity Bending Pliers (see page 54). The latter
can easily be used on various KURZ prosthesis head plates.
Developed in close collaboration with Dr. Robert Vincent, Béziers
(Causse Ear Clinic), France.
